Yesterday afternoon I decided to check out Fabick Nature Preserve/Bud Weil memorial Park in Fenton. On the larger of the 2 ponds was a gorgeous pair of HOODED MERGANSERS, she continually diving, he keeping watch (probably over me). Near the smaller pond I heard a BELTED KINGFISHER, and saw SWAMP, WHITE-THROATED and SONG SPARROWS. Also observed a TURKEY VULTURE, RED-TAILED HAWK and another buteo - maybe RED-SHOULDERED? BLUEBIRDS were singing everywhere,a NO. MOCKER was hanging out by the larger pond, a pair of CHICKADEES were checking out a HUGE owl house, and a NUTHATCH was carrying nesting material. Spring was definitely in the air! And, at my own house, a pair of WOOD DUCKS stopped by for a visit! Cool!
