Larry:

Our first Ruby-crowned Kinglet at the Bean Lake cabin this year was
on January 16, and one was there again on February 12.
Both times it was eating suet bits that had fallen to the ground under the
suet feeder/tree at SE corner of the porch.

Also on January 16 up north of the cabin in brush at water's edge
I had 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets. These were hunting bugs, I guess, as they
were up and down all over that brush. It was a sunny warm day so suppose
they were finding what they were looking for.

Here in town we had 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets on February 4th.

I believe our unusually warm weather this winter has the birds as well as me
somewhat confused.

Are the above early-enough dates for NW Mo. to be reported?
