On a January 1998 trip to northern Minnesota a vanload of Missouri and
Kansas birders (Show Me group: Paul McKenzie, Susan Hazelwood, Janice
Gaston, Larry Lade, Steve Kinder, Linda Childers, Lisa Berger, Glenn
Koontz, Tracy Wohl, Edge Wade) watched a flock of 87 Snow Buntings fly
up from a field, fly to a tree line on the far side of the field from
the road, land and sit in the trees there. We were all amazed, as none
of us had seen that behavior before.
