What time did you see the Townsend's Solitaire, and where? Hoping to help
another birder find it tomorrow.

Thanks!

I was with Bill Boesch, of Farmington, yesterday when he racked up Number
101 for the month of January. Number 99 was a Green-wing Teal at Mingo,
Number 100 a Great Egret lingering at Otter Slough and Number 101 a Merlin
near the southwest corner of Otter Slough (all in Stoddard County). A
driving rain from the start finally let up about 10:30 at Mingo. Occasional
mist occurred during the day but bird viewing was great. Other highlights
included four huge flocks of Snow Geese feeding between Dudley and Otter
Slough and also many thousands of Mallards feeding at Mingo. Bird Number 60
for the trip was a sleepy Great-horned Owl watching the evening traffic at
the junction of US60 and US67 near Poplar Bluff. Bill had birded at REDA,
Busch CA, Farmington hot spots, Mingo and Otter Slough during the 10 days of
January. Birds also included the Rufous Hummingbird at Farmington and the
Townsend's Solitaire in St. Louis.
