I birded Cooley Lake CA in Clay County for a little while at lunch today. In the corn stubble field across from the maintenance shed was a flock of about 50-60 Lapland Longspurs with a few Horned Larks mixed in. This is the first time that I have seen longspurs at Cooley. There is a lot of good habitat all over the Missouri River bottoms along 210 Hiway. I tried to turn one of the white plastic bags along the way into a Snowy Owl, but no luck.

  Good Birding,
