Possibly another sign of changing weather patterns, but maybe just a lost bird? Either way, Chris Brown and I observed 1-ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER today, January 3, in Creve Coeur (St. Louis County) over our lunch. The bird was flitting around in a Japanese Honeysuckle thicket. A casual/accidental winter resident according to the state checklist.

Another sighting I found a bit odd was the 100+ Common Grackles in my backyard New Years Eve Day. I have never observed a single Common Grackle this time of year during the 5 and 1/2 years I have lived at this address--so, I found that to be a bit unusual. To add one more odd sighting, maybe not that odd, I had a Ruby-crowned Kinglet visiting my backyard pond that same day.
