Today at Big Lake:
7 Trumpeter Swans (2 collars, 3 immatures)
Cackling and Canada Geese

Squaw Creek NWR today:
64 Bald Eagles
Rough-legged Hawk
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Great Blue Heron
4 Trumpeter Swans (present now for several weeks) When they first arrived, I
posted them as Tundra Swans
because that is what I was told through the grapevine. I was not
surprised that it was an error. The swans
are in Eagle pool, too far from the road to identify with binoculars.
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Winter Wren
Carolina Wrens
White-throated Sparrows
A few thousand ducks and geese are still present.
I am amazed at how many Great Blue Herons are still in NW MO with all the
cold weather we have had.
