While Veery's are long gone, Hermit Thrush winters in Missouri and is most 
certainly your bird.  The reddish tones and diffuse breast spotting are 
similar - take another look at the field guide and see if you concur.

Out on the forest working today and spotted a bird I identified as a Veery.
Then had second thoughts wondering is they are still moving through the
area.  Has any one else recently seen a Veery?
