For the fifth day in a row I have seen the Long-tailed Duck at Lake Contrary, Saint Joseph, Missouri. He is best seen from the north side of the lake (this is next to the Missouri River). Most of the Common Goldeneyes were not on the lake today, but the LTDU was in a small opening of open water in the mostly ice covered lake with a couple of goldeneyes, Bufflehead, Ruddy Ducks and about fifteen Lesser Scaup. There are large flocks Canada Geese and Mallards on the lake, but he will not be seen in those groups.

I probably will be checking again tomorrow morning around 7:45 AM to see if he is still there and then I will post whether or not he is there.
