Apparently, as I was writing yesterday about the large starling flock
gathering in the Benton Park neighborhod of St. Louis, they were leaving
for good. Last evening there were only a few starlings and almost no
chatter in the major roosting trees. This morning it was very quiet!
Good timing for us, as it turns out: we had spent most of yesterday
afternoon polishing the bird poop stains off of the white Toyota Corolla
and waxing the car. Now maybe it has a chance.
