today 10/21:

Riverlands EDA - MO
- tons of sparrows came in
- Had a few LINCOLNS SPARROWS at the Confluence Road bridge in amongst the
bazillion singing White-throats and White-Crowns ("More Cheesies please" and
"Ol' Sam Peabody" songs all over the place)
- few ducks in Ellis Bay: ruddies, gadwall and coots pretending to be
scoters.
- Lots of swallows and gulls today

Carlyle Lake - IL
- one juv. SABINE'S GULL at Saddle Dam
- a bazillion Bonies, ring-bills and herring gulls. Franklin's gulls off of
Dam East Access (Green Meadows) Don't doubt that Dan will find some rarity
in amongst the Bonaparte's
 - also had 2 COMMON LOONS from Hazlet Pavilion (Olympic Shelter) in Hazlet
SP.
LOTS of campers coming in for the weekend, so must be some event going on
there.
VERY cold in the wind despite the alleged "61 degree" temp reading on my
car.
Hunting of everything that moves starts soon there......Nov. 1 I think.

Good weekend birding,
Charlene Malone
St. Louis co.
