Hummingbirds do some wonderful things: taking abath in the drips form the
branch above them, darting out and in to catch insects I can't see, chasing
woodpeckers and chicadees away from their feeders, sitting on wires that are
thicker than they are in order to survey both sides of the house at once to
protect their nector source, getting a bill stuck in the screen as he tried
to fly through the kitchen as a shortcut (he extricated himself safely by
pushing his feet against the screen). I'd love to hear what others have
seen hummers do. I musst admit I have nevr seen one glean insects from a
ready made larder.
