Popular Culture Association / American Culture Association Annual Meeting Atlanta, Georgia, April 12-15, 2006. “German Fairy Tales, Sci-Fi/Comics and Fan Fiction: What’s in Reading?” Papers are sought that deal with German fairy tales, Sci-Fi and fan fiction. Individual papers on the role of these genres in the context of popular culture and popular reading habits, or about their relative importance, impact and interconnection are welcome. For instance, how do German fairy tales rate with, and relate to Japanese sci-fi and comics, or with the inescapable Harry Potter phenomenon? How does German-language interaction with the genres of Märchen, Sci-fi/Comics demonstrate itself, for instance, in fan fiction?
