And you are from?

I usually, if not always, try to put something like "Saint Joseph Area Birds" in the subject line when I am reporting birds observed at Lake Contrary, Bluff Woods, etc. I probably do not do this when reporting birds seen at Squaw Creek NWR (which is near Mound City) in northwest corner of the state. I will try to include this in future posts.

I believe you do have a valid point as a lot of times bird sightings are mentioned and one has to guess about where they are being seen. Perhaps county names are good, but unless you have a map of Missouri handy showing all the counties, it takes a lot of time and effort to find out exactly where these various counties are. Much better I believe to put the name of a nearby city or at least the general location in the state (as you suggest).

Along with more exact locations, it is also a good idea to type your name and location at the bottom of your posts.

I hate to be a bother, as I'm sure most of you are fairly fluent in Missouri
hotspots, but there are times when I have no idea what area of the state you
are talking about. If you are naming a trail, could you also name the park
and nearby city? Or at least a general area (ex. bootheal, KC-area, STL,
Mid-Mo)? I spent 15 minutes online looking for info on the Chubb trail
before I found out it wasn't someplace I could reach for a morning outing.
Just an extra word or two would be a great help to me, and possibly to other
birders new to the state. Thank you to those that already do this.
