Breakfast birding Sat., Aug. 6 05' at the Chert Glades portions of Wildcat Park, Joplin, Newton County MO. Thirty species of our common birds including the flyovers: Wood Duck, Red-shouldered Hawk, MODO, Chimney Swift, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Red-bellied, Downy, Pewee, Phoebe, Eastern Kingbird, Blue Jay, Am. Crow, Fish Crow (2) NRW Swallow, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren, Eastern Bluebird, Am. Robin, N. Mockingbird, Eur. Starling, Sum. Tanager, Chipping Sparrow, Field Sparrow, Cardinal, Common Grackles, Indigo Bunting, House Finch, Am. Goldfinch. Still singing were: Mourning Dove, Eastern Phoebe, E. Wood Pewee, Carolina Wren, Mockingbird, Field Sparrow, Cardinal and Sum. Tanager. Two families of CAWR and one family of Phoebes were fun to watch. None of the birds that I went there to see were observed: no MIKI's, Sedge Wrens or PABU's. Good birding, Larry H.
