Saturday was a remarkable day when the blurry-video debate was suddenly a moot point ! ! ! The audio recording absolutely puts the whole matter of physical evidence to bed - Ivory-billed Woodpecker(S) are unequivocally alive in Arkansas!

The recording has the distinctive 'kent' calls, followed by a double-rap - presumably the same bird in the near-ground. In the background (distance) is an immediate 'response' of a double-rap - undoubtedly from a second bird. This is classic 'communication' behavior of this genus, according to experts.

The recording was apparently in January '05 by a remote device in the White River (southern) region of the Big Woods complex. Audio reviewers listening to the many hours of numerous remote devices first heard the recording in May '05. Talk about goose bumps ! ! !
