I sent the following message to the group on 6/10/05:

I've been feeding Ruby-throated Hummingbirds for the past 7 years and
this is the first time I've had such a dramatic drop in their
population. A few weeks back someone posted a similair e mail but at
that time our Hummers were still as plentiful as ever. It's been the
last 3 or 4 days that the population went from my usual 40-70 Hummers
(sometimes more)down to about 5 or 6! In the past, I've had to make
over a gallon of nectar a day!

I live in Southern MO, about 6 miles from the AR state line, very near
Lake Norfork.

I am happy to report that my Hummer population has incresed
significantly! I am now pretty close to "normal," observing anywhere
from 30-50 Hummers per day.

Southern Ozark County, MO
