This is done to keep the conservation agents from having to cite someone
for a violation to the Wildlife Code if they happen to shoot one out of
a flock of morning doves. The chances are extremely slim of it happening
but if it did there is no valid reason to cite someone who doesn't even
know that wwdo have arrived in Missouri. The same thing occurred when
the Gray Partridge moved south into Missouri for a few years.

News of the Conservation Commission meeting June 1 and 2, 2005...

Amongst other business, the Commission approved early migratory game
bird
hunting seasons, contingent upon approval of federal season
frameworks.
Season dates are:

Mourning Dove, Eurasian Collard Dove and White-winged Dove: Sept. 1
through
Nov. 9 (70 days); limits--12 in the aggregate daily, 24 in possession.

Sora and Virginia Rails: Sept. 1 through Nov. 9 (70 days); limits--25
in the
aggregate daily or in possession.

How many people have ever even seen one in Missouri? I've been lucky
enough
to see one in Clarence, Missouri at the residence of Jenny Webb. Others
have
seen them in various locations around the state. This information is
provided by me to the listserv members because it strikes me as curious
that
there would even be a season on White-winged Dove in Missouri.

Stay Cool!!!

It's warming up again...
