Please post more info about this bird. Dark morph Broadwings are quite rare,
and there has been a fair amount of past discussion about them on BIRDCHAT,
a chat room with a world wide (but mostly North American) subscribership to
which I subscribe. One BIRDCHATTER has been studying the occurrences of dark
morph Broadwinged Hawks and has asked for posts of information about them. I
would like to forward this occurrence to him via BIRDCHAT because I suspect
that the occurrence of a dark morph Broadwinged Hawk as far south as
Missouri may be quite unusual indeed.

Incidentally, I have seen dark morph Broadwings only twice in 58 years of
birding. Both were in fall migration in Morton County Kansas, but in
different years. One was hanging around the shelter belt near the cemetery,
and I saw it quite a few times. A strikingly beautiful bird!
