Lurked around Snow Goose Pool, Squaw Creek NWR, Holt County, MO this morning. Highlights:
PIPING PLOVER-1 (Initially heard from within a flock of Semipalmated Plovers, then observed until a Peregrine zoomed through. Unable to relocate the bird.)
MARBLED GODWIT-1
Common Moorhen-1(FOY)
No dark Ibis' observed today.
Also observed one Willet getting mauled by 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS in Snow Goose Pool. Somehow, after an ariel barrage that lasted about 15 min., the Willet fended off his attackers and slowly limped into the stubble, dragging a broken wing behind him. Don't see that everyday...
Good Birding,
Doug Willis
Kansas City, MO
