Spent a little time out at Eagle Bluffs this morning before work. Here's a brief summary of what I saw over approx. an hour and a half, mostly spent around Pool 4 and Pool 10.

Millions of Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Gadwall, American Coots, Canada Geese
A few Northern Pintail, Ring-necked Ducks, Pied-billed Grebes, Mallards, Wilson's Snipe
@ 75 American Golden Plovers, mostly in Pool 4
@ 30 Pectoral Sandpipers, Pool 4, 10
12 Greater Yellowlegs
10 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Caladris "peep" (prob. Least but didn't get a good look)
Cooper's Hawk prowling a grass strip along the distribution channel

Also- Two pairs of Bald Eagles- the usual pair by Pool 10, and another pair looking awfully cozy with each other on the large, dead trees in the distribution channel south of the disabled blind......I suspect there is another nest around........maybe on the river????

Didn't have time to check the river trail for early warblers, etc. Tomorrow morning's looking nice...

Good birding,
Andy Forbes, Boone County
