Jim Jackson and I birded Winfield Dam area and REDA today and had the following noteworthy sightings:
Winfield Pool--
flock of about 80 White Pelicans
3 Bald Eagles
Sandy Slough Road--
Large mixed flock of blackbirds (redwings, common grackles, starlings and about 10-12 rusty blackbirds.  
Rough-legged hawk (light morph) seen twice; once driving over the causeway to the dam and again upstream along the slough road.

REDA--
150 white pelicans
1 horned grebe
1 female long-tailed duck within 25 feet of the shore at the parking lot near the outdoor toilets.  
All three merganser species,; red-breasted the most numerous (about 40-50)
5 greater scaup (during one the periods of really good lighting this afternoon)
1 red head on heron pond
1 Harlan's hawk west of Portage de Sioux.
1 adult (probably female) goshawk along hwy 94 just west of the first underpass going west from Lincoln Shields.
