A reminder concerning a Proposed Spring 2006 Light Goose Hunt ON Squaw
Creek National Wildlife Refuge from Jan. 25 to April 30. This really has
nothing to do with pro or anti-hunting sentiment. As Susan Hazelwood
stated, probably no one is going to change their mind anyway, and Larry
Lade's original comments were simply informative concerning the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service request for input.
The News Release of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would seem to be a
legitimate request that ASM list servers, members, etc. should have
opportunity to honor, since this proposed hunt was given on short notice,
(Dec. 22, 04), and evidently not widely publicized (since not many people
knew about it).
White geese are now being hunted, and the service is simply asking for
your input on hunting white geese ON a federal wildlife REFUGE; I would
suspect that this won't be the last federal wildlife refuge that you will
be asked for the same type of input, so exercise your tax paying rights and
send in your comments; they request it. Time is short-deadline for
written comments-Jan. 21, 2005 (this Fri.). Comments should be directed
to: Ron Bell, Refuge Manager, Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, P.O.
