Re: the Common Loon at Binder Lake in Jefferson City. Has anyone ever seen
it fly? I am wondering if it has an injury - it looks fine just sitting on
the water. It seems strange enough that a loon would stay through June and
stranger still that another one appear the first week of August. It would
seem more likely that this one just "summered over". Any other Jeff City
birders remember seeing it in July? If it doesn't have an injury, do we
need to document a loon that spends the summer voluntarily???

Three Western Kingbirds were on the wires on the old Cedar City access road
near the MFA grain storage buildings. No buffies at the sod farm; less than
10 shorebirds at the Binder Lake shorebird area -- mudflats are covered with
vegetation.
