Clarence Cannon NWR, Pike co.

NO RAILS - it's not meant to be or I need a higher profile vehicle.
Barred owl near the same spot for the last week or so - maybe this bird is
sick (??) or VERY tame.
Several SEDGE WRENS singing
imm MERGANSER species (thinking maybe Hooded) - along the road going to the
hunt club. It was in the open pool right along the road before crossing the
creek. This bird clearly had a merganser bill with a LONG BLACK TAIL, white
in the folded wings, white under chin and dark eyes. Dark gray brown
overall.
I had this very same bird in the very same pool on Thursday.
A smattering of common shorebirds here and there.

St. Louis co.
