Dan Kassebaum just called with a bunch of birds that he has seen in the
Monroe county, IL area of the St. Louis area (he is doing surveys down
there) Most birds are AROUND the Kidd Lake area, because Kidd Lake itself is
dry as a bone, but the duck clubs that surround the IL DNR property are
pumping water into their impoundments and it's attracting a VERY good array
of birds.

BLACK VULTURES - Bluff and Kidd Lake Rd
2 BLACK-NECKED STILTS
LEAST TERNS
200 AM. WHITE PELICANS - some from the population of birds that left their
breeding site?
LARGE concentration of egrets and herons . Dan thinks this is a good spot to
check for a possible vagrant. With all the reports of Tri-coloreds in other
states...... who knows.

BTW, South of Kidd Lake, there are pools attracting birds too.

Good birding,
Charlene Malone
