Did anyone else catch the June 28 Newsweek article (page 12) on the missing Am White Pelicans?

Thirty thousand of them disappeared/left the Chase Lake NWR in central North Dakota after beginning a normal breeding season at that location. Parents abandoned chicks and eggs. There are no carcasses to suggest disease. There is seemingly an abundant supply of food. Human causes have largely been ruled out.

How many Am White Pelicans are you eastern MO Birders seeing around St. Louis???
