SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER pair nesting in Scott Co, Missouri
I found a nesting pair of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers in Scott County, near
Sikeston, today 13 June 2004 at about 3:30 pm. This is where I found a male
Scissor-tailed last year.
In the DeLorme Missouri Atlas & Gazetteer the location is on page 68, at 3B.
Go two-tenths mile on Highway 61 north of the Highway 61 / Highway Z
(Vanduser exit) intersection. On the right side of Highway 61 there is a
telephone pole with a red & white rag I tied around the pole about 5 feet
off the ground. The nest is on the top of this pole. We watched a male and
female frequently visit this nest for over 30 minutes. Won't be long now
before this species is bumped up from 'casual' here in the bootheel!
Documentation is in the mail.

I have several photos and a 1 minute (low resolution) video if anyone wants
to see.
