2 Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were observed for approximately 20-30 minutes
by myself and a friend, Wednesday, June 9th, between 12 and 1 PM, southwest
of St. Joseph near Mud Lake, in Buchanan County.

There was a light mist in the air with a slight breeze and they were either
enjoying that fact or catching insects stirred up by same.
1 bird was larger than the other...(a pair perhaps? but they were never
perched long enough to determine differences in coloring, etc).

Did not attempt pictures because of low light and drizzle...will go back on
a brighter day. They were seen yesterday just south of the 4-way stop of
Crockett Rd and 54th Rd...3 poles south with scraggly/bushy tree.
(This is in the same general vicinity as the Northern Shrike this past
winter. Will send map of area if you contact me off-list).

These birds were seen by several birders approximately 10-days to 2 weeks
ago but not posted. A friend called me this morning to say she observed 1
of them
about 6 AM today, 'fighting' with a Dickcissel, so they are hanging around.

Happy birding,

Frances Cramer
and Georgia Hathorne
St. Joseph, MO Buchanan Co.
