Steady rain continues to make Boone County a soggy place to bird! Little
Dixie Lake has a Horned Grebe in almost full breeding plumage - the solid
gold streak across head is very visible - and one in very confusing plumage.
But his profile matched the Horned, and they stayed in very close proximity,
so called him a Horned. Bonaparte's Gull also flew through the area. Got my
year YB Sapsucker (finally), and YR Warblers and Brown Thrashers were in the
east parking lot. Did not re-find the Loon, but Ruddies, Coots, RB
Merganser, and other expected waterfowl were present.

R-1 Lake at South Farm had two Redheads among the Gadwall, Scaup. Bradford
Farm had Snipe, Yellowlegs, and Am Golden Plovers. BW Teal taking off and
landing throughout the property.

Eagle Bluffs CA has many flooded fields and high water but the roads were in
surprisingly good shape. Water is still over the road on the first one-way
loop, but the surrounding field had a flock of 38 AG Plovers, both
yellowlegs and numerous snipe. A flock of about 30-40 gulls were sitting on
the mud, mostly Ring-billed with four Bonaparte's. Pool 10 is so high, the
water is back into the weeds so shorebirds were not visible. Many
"dabblers" remain on the property including Pintail and Wigeon. One Great
Egret was perched in a tree, and had a flyover of about 130 American White
Pelicans and one DC Cormorant.
