Got to see the "7-Swans-a-Swimming" today at Lake Contrary, St. Joseph, MO.
4 Trumpeters and 3 Tundras. Saw them in the cornfield in Dec. '03, but this
was the first time on the water, and in '04.

Didn't look for the N. Shrike today, too windy and short on time.

At the Bean Lake cabin this morning to put out bird feed...Very windy but
between 10 a.m and 11:30 a.m. we had the following birds:
Cardinals, W.B. Nuthatch(2), BC Chickadees, Carolina Wren(1), Juncos,
Goldfinches, Downey Woodpeckers(2), Red-bellied Woodpecker, Y.S. Flicker,
Tufted Titmouse(4), White crowned Sparrows, Tree Sparrows, E. Bluebirds and
a fly-over of several thousand Snow Geese.

Last Thursday at the cabin, we had a Brown Creeper come to a tree where we
had spread peanut butter....always happy to see this little guy.

Above observations by,
Frances Cramer
and
Georgia Hathorne
