Birded Jacomo and Blue Springs lakes this morning. Blue Springs and
come common goldeneye and coots by the dam. Over by the causeway there
were hooded merganser and gadwall and at the canoe put in hooded
merganser, gadwall, and mallard. At the marina on the Blue Springs lake
there was a common merganser female and a ringbill gull sitting on the
walk way on the north side of the launch ramp.
Jacomo had coot, gadwall, common merganser and 2 common loon at and
along the shore and boat dock. Saw 3 or 4 savannah sparrows and 2
yellow-rumped warblers on the pull off at the cove north of where
shelter house use to be. the lake is pretty much frozen by the south
marina. only a couple of spots open and the canada geese were there.
The intersection where the road turns to the dead end there is a few
juniper trees and the robins, bluebirds, titmouse, chick-a-dee and
starling were having a feast. I thought I saw a thrasher or thrush
there also but only got a glimpse so not positive what it was. Fairly
sure there was a mocking bird at the main entrance to Lake Jacomo. Lots
of dark-eyed junco all around the lake.
