Riverlands EDA, St. Charles co, MO/Madison co, IL
IL birds:
Not one but TWO PEREGRINE FALCONS on the Clark Bridge column nearest to the MO side.

MO Birds:
Ellis Bay......
one COMMON LOON ( had TWO on Saturday) - a bit late for them here.
one BLACK SCOTER still around - Wisc birder had this, I did NOT.
one constantly calling HORNED GREBE
Common merg numbers increasing.
C. goldeneyes were very vocal too. Diving duck numbers down from the other day

Heron Pond........
3 male BLACK DUCKS
Heard AM. WIDGEONS
98% Mallards, a few pintail, gr-wgd teal, shovelers, gadwall
Gull numbers were down with nothing that remarkable.
Weather too nice to bring anything different I guess, though there are Glaucous gulls in KY at Lake Barkley.

ALSO....a weird vocalization (across from where the horned grebe was calling actually) from the tall grasses in front of Dragonfly pond
plaintive high pitched whistle, series of three notes that were the same pitch and duration. Maybe..........peeeew, peeeew, peeeew (as in church bench)
Any ideas as to what may make this noise??.
Maybe pheasant, bob-white, rabbits, short-eared owls.........????

Good birding,
Charlene Malone
