Riverlands EDA, St. Charles co, 6/3/03
Nothing new for us.
NO LEAST TERN seen by us anyway.......(but Corp was running a tractor with
something dragging behind it on the Least tern sandbar off of Ellis Island.
I am assuming for weed control?)

WATER RISING as I type.

Ellis Bay:
19 BLACK TERNS flying in River channel.
16 Sterna terns (Common and Forster's seen, but not absolutely sure of
numbers of each. Difficult to see)
2 DUNLIN
1 RUDDY TURNSTONE
30+ Semipalmated sandpipers
poss. Baird's
4 GADWALL - 3 males, one female ** LATE date
1 CANVASBACK - male  - late date?
1 RUDDY DUCK -
3 male Blue-winged teal
15 AW PELICANS - some with breeding centerboard, some without

Heron pond:
10 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS - high number seen in June (?)
several semi-sands.
