In the draft of TWL was:

What is that noise now? What is the wind doing?'
                          Carrying
Away the little light dead people.

Valerie Eliot in the Facsimile of the draft identified the allusion to
Paolo and Francesca in Dante's Inferno, Canto V. She then mentioned
Francesca's quote "There is no greater woe than in misery to remember
the happy time" (or some other similar translation.)

TSE may have consider his student days a happier time than his married
life.
