I was around Smithville Lake from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 5th. A few small rafts of ducks. One had good variety, mostly gadwalls plus N. Shoveler, green-winged teal, lesser scaup, A. wigeon, ruddy duck, mallard. One golden-eye diving near dam. Quite a few d. c. cormorants around.

On headquarters road saw blue-winged teal, savannah and Harris sparrows, cedar waxwing, hermit thrush. Heard E. towhee, junco, N. bobwhite.

Jo Ann Eldridge, Kearney, Clay Co.
