A friend of mine once having correspondence business with Eliot
over a publication, added in a missive some remark (I forget) that
his (the friend's) dogs objectd to something or other in OLD POSSUM'S
B.O.P.CATS. An addendum to a reply from Eliot had a comment to the
effect that "Your dogs don't have a right to an opinion."

Why has no one mentioned Eliot's aversion to cows. Whatever
that sinewy yellow fog/semen is, it's no bull.

Eliot loved
cats and it is clearly a cat.

which is the problem with the old boy, really. how much happier would he
have been with a spaniel.
