Ozark Rivers Audubon invites the public to their March meeting and
presentation, "Missouri's Plant Communities"  by Paul Nelson, Planner for
the  Mark Twain National Forest. Mr. Nelson is the author of Terrestrial
Natural Communities of Missouri  and served on the Missouri Natural Areas
Committee. Natural areas are permanently protected, unique biological
communities or geological sites.  They are managed to perpetuate the natural
character, diversity, and ecological processes of Missouri's native
landscapes.

The meeting and presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. As usual, the
presentation will be preceded by "Bird Talk" and followed by a Q & A

Birdwatching Outing  -  Saturday, March 15



The Ozark Rivers Chapter of the National Audubon Society will sponsor a bird
watching trip to White River Trace Conservation Area on Saturday, March 15.
WWT has 2,044 acres of excellent habitat, including grassland, cropland, old
field, and forest. There are 5 ponds, and the area contains a 1-mile section
of the historic Cherokee Trail of Tears. This area provides a unique
opportunity to see and learn about many different species of birds. Rob
Chapman, MDC Wildlife Biologist and Manager for the Area will lead this
exciting adventure and learning opportunity. The public is invited and all
skill levels and ages are welcome. Meet at the Kroger parking lot in Rolla
at 7:30 a.m. to carpool. Bring your binoculars and field guides if you have
