A group of ten from Springfield traveled by way of Lockwood and the Golden
City, Missouri areas to Prairie State Park and vicinity. (Dade, Lawrence
Counties)

We saw large flocks (of 100+) Lapland Longspurs. One field was crawling with
their movement just east of Golden City. Snow Geese and ducks are utilizing
the agricultural fields near Golden City. Waves of geese were in the air,
similar to observances near refuges. No ECDs were located this trip in
Lockwood, although 13 were seen two weeks ago near grain elevator. Over 30
Harriers were noted at PSP, alone.

We had a total of 18 Short-eared Owls, and a single Rough-legged Hawk near
Shawnee Trails CA. Check in at Prairie State Park headquarters for
directions to Shawnee Trails, which is about 4 miles sw of PSP.

No sign of the Ferruginous Hawk reported on the PSP CBC. However Red-tails
in about all color ranges and patterns possible, with exception of
leucistic, were observed.
