Josh,

Anne Downing and I often bird cemeteries in our "neck of the woods".

Not only is the birding good, but when Anne runs me into the ground, I'll have less of a distance to fall to a permanent resting place...

Seriously though...  BIRDING IN THE REMOTE CEMETERIES IN NEMO IS OFTEN VERY GOOD.

Subject: Cemetaries and Birding

While searching for Lakewood Park Cemetary in South St. Louis yesterday looking for the Merlin, I realized cemetaries may be real "good places" to look for birds.  We pulled into 2 of the "wrong" cemetaries in our attempt to find the Merlin.  The first cemetary we had  2 American Kestrals perched in trees.   The next cemetary we had a Coopers Hawk flying very low overhead.............Finally we found the "right" cemetary and found an Adult Female Merlin, of course now Jurek reports there are actually 2 present.  To top it off Torrey Berger finds a Shrike at the cemetary.  Is this common birding knowledge or places birders could be missing?
