The Snowy owl has survived yet another weekend in the south. It has been here in Knox county at least from the 2nd wk of Dec., and it appears that it is still quite comfortable with all the photographers and on-lookers. Today it was located right close to the grain-bins on route K and even closer to the small house on the corner of highway 15 and K. It was difficult to see from Route K but by driving behind the bins one could see it clearly. It appears to have given up the pole sitting in favor of a field site protected from the wind. There was an enormous red-tail keeping it company in the same field and it is still quite close to the fellows back-yard chicken koop in which he keeps a lot of either fighting cocks or show chickens. The chicken-koop is not covered and I dread the day the snowy finds chicken meat quite delectable. If he hasn't already.
