For those Mo-Birders who are Public Radio fans:
Today's "Talk of the Nation - Science Friday" will feature their annual
segment on Christmas Bird Counts (CBC's). They always interview several
prominent ornithologists and other CBC participants across the nation.
I've always made my non-birding family members listen to it to get
affirmation that there are thousands of other crazy folks out there
counting birds in frigid, inclimate weather, and that this strange hobby
is not isolated to myself, spouse, and a few friends. It's also a great
educational piece about birds/birding for the general public.
In St. Louis, the Public Radio station is 90.7 FM KWMU, and Science
Friday airs from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The CBC segment is sometimes on in the
last hour, but not always. Other non-St. Louis area listeners should
check their local radio listings for airing time, if interested.
Good birding, compadres,
Sue Gustafson
