Bob, I did see on lonely little common goldeneye this morning at Smithville dam, he was near the rocks and all by himself.  Maybe he is a scout for the rest of them?  Just kidding.  Otherwise there weren't many birds at all this AM at the dam.

I had a chance to spend 15 minutes at Jacomo today. Later, I went to Smithville and spent about an hour there just before dusk.

At Jacomo, I found 42 Greater Scaup, several Redheads and 1 Horned Grebe at the South Boat Dock. I found sailboats in the area where we sometimes see good birds from the North Boat Dock. I did not have time for Liggett Cove or Blue Springs Lake.

At Smithville, I found all three mergansers, two flocks of Shovelers , a small raft of Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead and Ruddy Ducks, a few Gadwall and quite a few Mallards. The loons, grebes and Franklins Gulls that were evident on previous trips were gone. Except for the Shovelers, and the absence of Goldeneye and male Common Mergansers, it was an early December array of waterfowl.

Is it over? I suspect much of it is. However, as the lakes up north freeze, a lot more Mallards, Common Mergs, Goldeneye  and  Snow Geese, plus perhaps a few more goodies, should come in.
