Mobirders (St. Louis Birders).........Not a 100% sure it is for the poaching activities that take place at REDA..................but I am sure that is one of the reasons.  Chris Brown and I were at REDA in the middle of last week......real early one morning.  Their was a sign on the pit toilet door explaining that security measures will be increased due to the loitering, etc., etc.,etc.  that goes on in and around the parking lots and pit toilets.   I have now learned to avoid using those bathrooms............If their is cars in the parking lot, the BIRDS viewed from their will be missed.  For those of us that witnessed some very strange events...........had cars pull up along the side of them for extended periods of time ......had cars follow you ......This is great news!   I hope this is for real and not for a brief period of time.

* one BARN SWALLOW
5 AW pelicans remain

Other birds still at REDA:
13 SURF SCOTERS - (Observed by JM & CM) out in the River channel near the
end of the upstream wall of the locks.
26 swans with two TUNDRA SWANS (adults) seen at Heron Pond. (one birder
observed over 30 swans at one time in Heron Pond)
Slight increase in Canvasbacks, Goldeneye, R-B merg and scaup numbers in
Ellis Bay.
Nice gull roost forms after 3 PM in Ellis Bay by the Dam. Nothing unusual
seen though.

Best viewing time for bird activity and numbers is after 2- 3 PM or early,
early AM.

Noticed Corp personnel patrolling the area AFTER HOURS at
Sunset..........hopefully for poachers.
(We've already turned in people hunting on Corp property for geese along
Orton road) keep your eyes open.

Good birding,
