Bob Lewis reports seeing a Common Nighthawk 11/4/02 and states that Robbins and Easterla list the latest record for the state as 11/14/87 near Farmington, MO.

A nighthawk flew across I-435 in front of my car on November 21, 1993 as I was proceeding south near the Worlds of Fun amusement park, Kansas City, Clay County.  Entirely independently of me, Don Arney also reported seeing a nighthawk in Kansas City on the same day.

Unfortunately, as it was a brief fly-by, I could not identify the 11/21/93 nighthawk as to species. It probably was a Common Nighthawk, but, just as a Golden Plover seen on an improbably late date should be investigated for the possibility of Pacific Golden Plover, so an improbably late nighthawk should be investigated for the possibility of Lesser Nighthawk.
