>
>Re-viewing Space: Space and Place in European Cinema
>ECRF Conference, University of Bath, 24-26 April, 2003
>
>Since the pioneering work on Space by Bachelard and Lefebvre, the
>concepts of Space and Place have been central concerns of Anthropology
>and Social Geography. In the past decade they have attracted growing
>attention in Film, Literature and Cultural Studies, leading to work on
>urban and rural, local and national, real and imagined/ remembered
>spaces, and themes such as rootedness/ rootlessness, and taking and
>losing possession of space. The third annual conference of the European
>Cinema Research Forum (ECRF) aims to develop this approach, examining
>hitherto neglected aspects of the cinematic construction of space in
>Europe.
>
>Papers will be 20 minutes in length, and we intend to submit a selection
>for publication. Abstracts of 250 words should be sent as email
>attachments to either Wendy Everett [log in to unmask] or Axel Goodbody
