A large number of divers (especially Scaup) had moved onto Smithville Lake this morning. Among a raft of maybe 3000 birds near the dam, there were: Common Loon - 10 Pied-billed Grebe - 15 Horned Grebe - 8 Gadwall - 100s American Wigeon - a few Mallard - 50 Northern Shoveler - 50 Northern Pintail - a few Canvasback - 15 Redhead - 10 Ring-necked Duck - 50 Lesser Scaup - 1000 (didn't sort through for Greater) Ruddy Duck - 1000 I was unable to find any Western Grebes near the dam (which is the only place I looked).
