I birded at Close Park in Springfield this past Wednesday with Dorothy Thurman.  The sparrows were very numerous and active.  We spotted Field, Swamp, Lincoln's, Song, Chipping, White-crowned, White-throated and Dark-eyed Juncos.  We were fortunate to see three Hermit Thrushes as well as a great look at a late Nashville Warbler.

Close Park is a newly developed park along a new Greenway's Trial along the south central part of Springfield.  Dorothy is developing a check list for the park.  We believe the park area will provide some great birding for us.  The area has been birded in previous years by some of our local birders, and even though the development has caused us some environmental pain, it is more friendly user now.  There is a small creek and pond along the trail.  Now, if we can just get a bubbler delivered.
