I see the misunderstanding now ... it is my fault. I misread the lines: "For
a Jewish poet to be able to write like a Jew, in western Europe and in a
western European language, is almost a miracle." He is faulting Jewish poets
for generally NOT writing like Jews, with Rosenberg being a rather pleasant
exception. I picked up the reverse and switched Wagner's and Eliot's
positions. The mess of misunderstanding that follows is my mistake
completely!

A.

(And no, I haven't been in Chicago yet, unfortunately. I'm on another
project and I currently cannot be spared from it, so it will take a little
while yet before I get a chance, IF I ever get a chance - I don't have any
holidays, so even if I wanted to go independently from work, that would be a
problem. By the time I do have some holidays, I'll need them to visit my
mother in Turkey. that's not so bad though ... it's beautiful out there, or
so people keep telling me.)

  Do you like the poems?
