"Leman" is much more likely to be "lover," of either sex.  So is this now a 
homoerotic production?  More attempts to keep all the parts for the guys in 
cross dress?

Mind is fogged this morning,  probably advanced dissociated sensibility
but wasn't Leman or Lehman a Sec of Navy  years ago.

But as Leman also could mean a "fancy woman"  don't you think you would
have to assume a Tiresias persona or fight it out with Nancy.
